On the 15th of May about a dozen people, including a couple of KLB members descended upon Tongue and Groove Café for the first Bike Kaipātiki coffee meetup.

It was good to meet people face to face and share ideas around the table.

We came away from that session with a list of tasks and items to either acquire or campaign for:

Information:
Add information on how/where to report problems on the Bike Kaipatiki Facebook page and website
Run a Bike Tribe quiz on the Bike Kaipātiki Facebook page (multi-select) to gauge the interests of our members
Get a domain name – BikeKaipātiki.nz ?
Set up an email address for Bike Kaipātiki
Set up a blog centric website
Set up Mailchimp for non-Facebook members
Get cloud storage enabled.
Consider local board grants and similar to fund events
Consider local board quick response grants for teardrop flags

Events & Activities:
Run group rides and encourage bubs on bikes
More information on where to ride including family safe areas
Learn to ride courses
Electric bike test day(s) – consider Bike Lab

Safety:
Roundabout safety
Intersection with Albany Highway and Upper Harbour Drive
Traffic calming on school routes

Looking to the future:
Collect data to help agencies and Local Board
Work with Kay Condon and Birkenhead Business Association to build links and encourage cycling as an alternative through market parking and other initiatives

Future meetups will aim to report back on or progress these items.
