A big thank you to everyone who visited the Bike Kaipātiki Pop-up Bike Hub in the Northcote Town Centre over the 7 weeks starting September 11th.
In that time Bike Kaipātiki volunteers have services 155 bikes, lent out bikes 25 times, talked to 710 people and provided specific activities 36 people took part in.
Over the weeks we had 10 bikes donated which have been repaired/serviced and donated back to the community with helmets and safety gear.
We really covered the all ages and abilities demographic with kids through to those in their 80s riding in and stopping for a chat. The vast majority of those in and around the town centre are just people trying to get around Kaipatiki and do many people we talked to expressed a desire for more protection and better infrastructure with lots of support for Skypath as well as Bike Kaipātiki's ideas for connecting our communities.
It was exciting to meet repeat visitors including people who had been to the Bike Gala earlier this year. The container will now be packed up/cleaned out before it is removed Monday.
Bike Kaipātiki will put together a series of events and rides over summer, keep an eye on our Facebook page and website (http://www.bikekaipatiki.nz), join our Facebook group to join the discussion.
